Volunteers back in the U.S. who come alongside Africa to make a difference are a key ingredient to helping us see the end of the HIV/AIDS and water crises. We at Blood:Water are grateful for our volunteers. We are so grateful, I want to introduce you to one of them—our friend Tori Langley.

Tori just graduated from college in Hawaii and is in the process of figuring out what her next steps are. In the mean time, Tori was deeply inspired by something her father said: “You can’t change the world, but you can change somebody’s world.”

Taking this to heart, Tori did something great. As you can see from the video below Tori has a heart to make a difference by engaging with her own community. She took the people she knew a problem. That’s when “Well & Good” came to life. I like to call this creative social action.

Tori brought together a group of her talented friends and asked them to donate their time and talent to make a difference. Each artist did what they do best, whether that was painting, sculpting or performing. Throughout the “Well & Good” evening, artists performed, people interacted, and community happened. Through the efforts of Tori and her talented friends they were able to raise $3,612 for Blood:Water! That amounts to a lot of difference!

“Well & Good” did not end the HIV/AIDS and water crises, but it is a step towards ending them. It also engaged people in a way that was different than just taking up an offering or going door to door. Because of Tori, community and relationships were deepened. Steps were taken towards engaging her island in creative social action. How many more steps will it take? We don’t know exactly, but we are convinced we will see the end of the HIV/AIDS and water crises in our lifetime.

How do you feel challenged to make a difference? What steps can you take?
