This weekend, Blood:Water was the center of three separate events, which allowed our staff and interns to have meaningful conversations about our partners in Africa and their work to end the water and HIV/AIDS crises! Here’s an update on the advocacy opportunities from Audrey, Chase, and Caroline:

DEMDACO Showroom, Americasmart Atlanta

It was an honor to once again spend time in the space DEMDACO has created to showcase our work at AmericasMart Atlanta during Market Week. Amanda, our systems assistant, and I had a blast sharing with business owners and entrepreneurs the incredible work being done in Africa by our partners and the communities they serve. We continue to be amazed by the ability of Seth Michael Jones to capture the beauty and strength of Africa through his incredible portraits.

Lilly Pulitzer Shop and Share, The Mall at Green Hills

The Lilly Pulitzer store in The Mall at Green Hills in Nashville, Tenn., hosted a shop and share event benefitting Blood:Water this past Saturday! The store’s summer patterns created a beautiful and fun atmosphere for me to be able to tell people about our partners’ work in Africa. Snacks and drinks graciously provided by Lilly Pulitzer acted as great conversation starters with customers. Most of the shoppers had eager ears to hear about how their purchases would make an impact in Africa, and Lilly Pulitzer donated 10% of the day’s revenue to Blood:Water, which totaled over $450!

Thomas Csorba House Concert, Blood:Water Office

This past Saturday, Blood:Water hosted a house concert featuring Thomas Csorba, an Americana artist from Houston, Texas. Thomas played songs from his debut record, “From the Foxhole,” as well as songs from a couple of previously released EPs. The event was sponsored by Chick-fil-A and Chago’s Cantina, and those who came to the show were able to learn about Blood:Water’s mission and vision in a setting that provided good tunes and quality food! Plus, Thomas generously donated his merchandise proceeds and ticket sales to Blood:Water. We are so grateful for his generosity and the people who came out to support him and Blood:Water!
